It is always fun to see how quickly the red berries get eaten! I have been lucky to have captured some of these beauties around my yard. As I write this, there is very little snow left and the berries are just about gone. Tomorrow is Christmas and it is time to relax and be thankful for all we have. Merry Christmas to you all!

A few days ago while driving by the pond that is located down the road from my house, I noticed a black thing way out on the ice. Not having binoculars or camera with me, I rushed home to grab them both and drove back to solve my curiosity. Thinking at first that it may be a beaver, since they do live in the pond, I realized by the way it was acting that it was an otter! It kept slipping into the hole in the ice and than would pop up and look in my direction, go down again and come up again and lay on the ice. I watched him until it got too dark to see. I remember about 9 years ago, my mom and I saw an adult with three babies crossing the road in front of us. That was a sight to remember!
I was sure it was an otter when I saw the tail.

Some of the many Goldeneyes. The sound of the whistling when flying was amazing!
These hoodies were not far from their hiding place
Just when I thought I had seen all the activity at the pond, this male wood duck just appeared! My favorite duck of all times, can't imagine why?

Where has the summer gone? Why is it that the older we get, time goes by quicker? I certainly don't have the answer to that question nor want to spend too much time wondering why. I have not been writing in this blog for a long time but I do have a lot of photos and observations from this summer that I will be sharing with you all throughout the coming weeks.
This little pond is located right down from my home. About 3 weeks ago there was this Great Egret that hung around for a week or so. It usually hung out a distance away but one day while driving by it was fishing near the road. It was so focused on fishing that it really didn't care that I was there. Here a just a few photos, enjoy.

Here are a few photos (alright, not just a few) taken of a pair of Tree Swallows that nested in one of my blue bird boxes. I don't know exactly how many babies were in the box but by the sounds of them, it was a full box worth! As of today, the wren's have be checking it out, which is fine with me.

It has been a wonderful spring for warblers around my yard. I am so thankful for making this spot of land our home 15 years ago. Another beauty (in the garden) this springtime was this tree peony below, which gave me about 12 large fragrant blooms!

This whole spring I have been really focused on the swallows. The way they dart around for insects (thank goodness all that rain is gone) and just the way they fly in general. My challenge also is to photography them in as many different positions as I can while in flight, not an easy thing to do! I have a nesting pair, of swallows, in one of my bluebird boxes. Next door to them is another box that has a male bluebird hanging around it. I have not seen a female yet, let's just hope one comes along.
I hope to be posting a few shots I have taken of the warblers that have been around the house lately. Because I have been shooting camera RAW the processing takes more time at the computer, I would rather be outside shooting when the birds are around, not inside in front of a computer! So that is really why I have not been posting as much as I want. Please check back sooner than later.
